Predict, plan for, respond

In our everyday actions, in our everyday work, in our everyday interactions with colleagues, students, and families, we must learn to be CONTEMPLATIVE so we can truly plan for, predict, and respond to the ever-changing needs of our district, our leaders, our teachers, our families, and most of all EACH and EVERY one of our children.


Each student’s life is of immense value

Contemplative educators are consciously aware of the need to disrupt the educational landscape and save the lives of each student.  They choose to believe that students’ lives matter.  Plain and simple.  Each and every student’s life matters.  In doing so, contemplative educators confront and respond to their own mental models and to the institutional barriers that reproduce the marginalization and oppression of some groups of students.  Thus, while they seek to understand and embrace each child’s unique individual identity, each child’s family background, economic status, disability, level of parental support, or any other life circumstance, they relentlessly choose to respond to each student in a manner that exemplifies that each student’s life matters.  Do our students know that we believe their lives matter?

The Contemplative Educator Series is an investment in the district’s leaders and teachers.  It is designed to grow both our individual and collective capacity to fully participate in creating and utilizing a Teaching, Learning, and Leading Infrastructure to skillfully meet the needs of each of our students because we believe their lives matter.
